Yoko Ishii

Biography

Born in Yamaguchi, Japan, in 1962, she has been fascinated by the view of the world through the lens, and taking photographs of animals in particular. In March 2011 she started a photography project of wild deer living in the midtown in Nara and Miyajima. She is now based in Kanagawa.

Selected group exhibitions include: Closing night projection in the Angkor Photo Festival, Cambodia (Dec. 2014), Projection and exhibition in the Mt. Rokko International Photo Festival, Japan (Aug. 2014) and Japanese Photography Showcase” in the OBSCURA Photo Festival, Malaysia (Aug. 2014)

In February 2014 she was the finalist of Onward Compe 2014 and was nominated to reviewer’s selection by Mr. Masato Terauchi and Mr. Toshihiro Terauchi in Onaeba vol 14. Before that, she was nominated to reviewer’s selection by Mr. Seiji Komatsu in Onaeba vol 10 in February 2012.
