2. Make use of underexposure
As for the settings of cameras, exposure and white balance (WB) are important.
Start with exposure. If you shoot automatically, it is likely to be overexposure and the sun and its surrounding area will be lost. To make the round shape more visible, it is useful to select a negative exposure compensation or manual exposure mode to slightly underexpose.
As for WB, when you want to emphasize the redness of sunrise, select daylight, cloudy or shade. But if it is too reddish, the image looks like sunset rather than sunrise. And shooting in auto mode often works as it curbs redness. In so doing, you can capture images with an atmosphere of sunrise. Try both ways and choose one you like.
