Nikon Cancelled the DL Series

The camera manufacturer abandoned the premium compact camera line because of lower sales forecast

On February 13th Nikon announced that it cancelled the release of the DL series, a premium compact camera line. Three cameras―the DL18-50 f/1.8-2.8, the DL24-85 f/1.8-2.8, the DL24-500 f/2.8-5.6―were due to be out last June only to be postponed because of serious issues with the integrated circuit for image processing. Although the camera manufacturer continued its efforts to fix them, costs soared while the market slowed. That spelled the end of the project.
